Update: In early 2022, a product & company reboot has happened, which pivoted the product much more towards setting goals (OKRs) but still has its roots in teamwork, metrics, and evidence-based management.
Agile Tools will provide a number of metrics grouped into four Key Value Areas. The list is comprehensive but by no means complete as the library will continue to grow.
Each Key-Value Area (KVA), you might as well call them dimensions, will have a set of metrics best suited for the area in question. There are four of them: Current Value, Time to Market, Ability to Innovate, and Unrealized Value.
The current Agile Tools Beta focuses only on the Ability to Innovate with six metrics. The next release will introduce a new dashboard look to emphasize the radar chart’s value and a whole new editor concept as we (TeamPoolz) are laying the foundations for the plethora of metrics to come.
There are several attributes you can organize metrics by:
Key-Value Area (or Dimension)
Recommended frequency to provide measurements
Scope of a metric
Role of a person most probable to provide measurements (when not automated)
Let’s group metrics by dimension (primary) and frequency (secondary).
Ability to Innovate
Weekly
Defect Trends
Production Incident Trends
Cycle
Sprint Goal Success
Time spent Context switching
Forecast Accuracy History
Velocity Fluctuation
Monthly
Innovation Rate
Feature Usage Index
On-product Index
Installed Version Index
Technical Debt
Active code branches
4 x Cycle
Team Member Turnover
Time to Market
Weekly
Mean Time to Repair
Monthly
Cycle Time
Lead Time
Build and Integration Frequency
Release Frequency
Release Stabilization Period
Quarterly
Time to Learn
Current Value
Monthly
Customer Usage Index
Customer Satisfaction
Employee Satisfaction
Quarterly
Product Cost Ratio
Employee Turnover
Revenue per Employee
Unrealized Value
Monthly
Customer Satisfaction Gap
Quarterly
Market Share
The expected dynamics of measurements to be provided for each metric will have defaults as listed above but might change as we gain more knowledge and market feedback.
All of the above metrics fall into one of three scopes:
Organization
Product
Team
You will be able to gather and observe statistics for several teams and several products.
Each metric in each Key-Value Area (Dimension) will drive the KVA Radar, so you will be able to see an aggregated score across teams and products. In turn, each KVA Radar will provide a KVA score to the main Radar – providing you an insight into your organization’s Business Agility Points.
